Workshops/Private Classes

Grupo Cativeiro Capoeira – Jamaica offers a variety of workshops and private classes for individuals, groups, companies and schools. Our repertoire includes:

• Capoeira Angola – the more playful and often slower one of the two traditional styles is characterized by its trickery and cunningness. Many techniques are close to the ground and focus on agility, flexibility and strength.
• Capoeira Regional – is characterized by a faster rhythm and a more upright posture of the players. It focuses on the effectiveness and the fighting aspects of  Capoeira.
• Capoeira for Kids – children as young as three years are taught Capoeira and can highly benefit from this art by developing strength, self-esteem, discipline and respect for others. Rhythm, singing and instruments training are part of the class, as well as specific Capoeira techniques of attack and defense and acrobatic movements.
• Maculele – is a mixture of dance and simulated stick-fight that was practiced by slaves in the sugar cane plantations. It is performed in pairs, either with sticks or machetes, to the rhythm of the drums and chanting. A spectacular dance and rendition of the slaves fight for freedom.
• Brazilian Percussion – a great variety of rhythms specific to Samba, Maculele, Capoeira and other brazilian dances are taught on different instruments. Among them are the congo drums, tambourine, berimbao etc.
• Stretching – for beginners and advanced athletes. Improve your agility, flexibility and well-being. Learn new strectching exercises and experience their effectiveness.
• Freestyle fighting – benefit from the many years of experience and training of our instructors in various martial arts (Judo, Karate, Capoeira, brazilian Jiu-jitsu, boxing etc.) and take your skills to another level. Punching, kicking, grappling and groundfighting are taught as well as take downs, locks and head strikes.
