Gustav's devastating effects on Ferro and his family
Posted: 31-August-2008
Although most of their belongings have been destroyed by the water and mud, the family has been lucky to not lose their entire house, mostly made of wood, as some of their neighbours did. For Ferro and his family who have been struggling before to make a living, this situation is devastating.
I believe this situation offers a great opportunity for us to show thatwe care for each other and walk the talk of being a Capoeira family. So whether you can spare some “(wo) manpower” helping to clean/rebuild the damaged house and yard or whether you are able to contribute with a donation, be it monetary or in form of food/cleaning utensils/hardware supplies or (used) household appliances your help will have an enormous impact on the current live situation of Ferro and his family, and assist them to recover from this shock.
Please note that time is of the essence as the area is heavily polluted with garbage, dead animals and mud. Let’s work together so the family can sleep inside their home again as soon as possible.
The pictures and videos below may give you a brief impression of the situation at the scene and also show the unique Jamaican way of taking even the worst situations with a smile and a joke!
For monetary donations of any amount you may use the PayPal button below or make a deposit to the CAPOEIRA ALAFIA account at the RBTT Cross Roads branch, Acc.No.: 0321-0100-94863 . Please indicate “FERRO” as purpose for your deposit or notify me personally of your aid via email or phone. All donations will go straight to Ferro and his family.
